Back in the day, agencies tried to make funny ads all the time.
We knew we were barging our way into people’s living rooms uninvited, so we tried to be pleasant while selling our clients’ products.
And we wanted to be liked.
Today there are very few ads or marketing ideas that raise a smile.
Is ‘purpose’ the reason for this? Or Covid?
Or maybe it’s further evidence of an industry at war with itself.
