Lemon Hive

Lemon Hive is an independent web development and software solutions agency specialising in headless websites, composable commerce, mobile apps and software. We build for ambitious brands directly and work as the development team behind other independent agencies that need senior technical delivery without adding headcount. Founded over seven years ago, we are a team of more than 30 across London, Oxford and Dhaka.

We have worked exclusively in MACH/headless throughout our history, which is unusual, as most agencies added it later. We work with a range of CMSes including Payload (now part of Figma), Sanity, Storyblok, Contentful, and others, with front-ends such as Next.js, Astro or SvelteKit. We also build mobile apps with Flutter and React Native, and composable commerce solutions with Shopify, Centra, Commerce Cloud, Next.js and Hydrogen.

Our work falls into three areas. Websites and content platforms, including the rebuild of merton.ox.ac.uk for Merton College, The University of Oxford, where we migrated nearly 4,000 pages and built custom editorial tools so the college could run the site itself. Composable commerce, on Shopify and Shopify Plus, Centra, and others, including a streetwear launch that handled three sales every second on its first drop. And software, from custom learning management systems to our own SaaS product, SiteBeacon.io.

We tend to work best alongside other agencies, and with forward-thinking start-ups, enterprises with complex integrations and demanding UX standards, and commerce businesses that see their storefront as a competitive advantage.

We also work as the development team behind other agencies. Design agencies come to us when they have produced work they are proud of and need it built without compromising the design. Marketing agencies come to us when a client’s website is holding back SEO, conversion or campaign performance and there is no development team to fix it. Development agencies come to us for extra capacity or specialist headless, software and app expertise.
