TRAINING : Build a Powerful Pitch Story in 90 Mins
During this session we will bring order to the often chaotic act of pulling together an entartaining and coherent pitch story. We will travel through a simple seven step storytelling framework, into which almost any pitch can fit. Whether you are starting with a blank page and need to get going, or have too much information and need to untangle it, this course will help you take the next step.
YOU WILL LEARN
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:Â
- Create order in a pitch narrative by looking at the key elements and building supporting chapters around them to make them strong and compelling
- Know what to do when you have too much informationÂ
- Have clear action steps when you don’t know where to begin
- Put a pitch together in a seamless, entertaining and personal way that clients will enjoy
- Remember go-to questions to ask clients, team members and themselves at each step of the process
CONTENT
On the day, we will cover;
- A seven step storytelling framework called the P.O.W.E.R.U.P. framework, and how to use it, based on hundreds of pitches;Â
- Picture the scene – Where can we start the journey that will ensure we keep clients with us from the off?
- Objective – What is the single most important question or challenge that the client needs us to answer?
- Walls – What is stopping the client solving this already/themselves or with existing partners?
- Essential Need – What are the key tasks that will overcome these barriers?
- Resolution – What is our single-minded answer to the question or challenge?
- Upside – Why is this the best possible answer to the question?
- Package the deal – Why are we the people to do it for/with you?
DELEGATE LEVEL
This course is suitable for all levels, but ideal for Account Managers and upwards. Anyone who is required to respond to client briefs or pitch as a part of their job will find new and valuable ways to enrich their existing toolkit.Â

James Appleby has spent almost 25 years working in world class media and technology agencies, leading client relationships and comms strategy for top tier clients including Sainsbury’s, CompareTheMarket.com, Oatly and McVitie’s.
Coaching teams to crack a brief and respond with a performance that is both entertaining and informative in equal part has been a career long passion, hence his chairmanship and mentoring as part of NABS charity pitch course Fastforward for nearly a decade.
Following a spell as Managing Director of Assembly Media, he founded his own consultancy and training business Conquis, and works with a range of businesses in the marketing, media, advertising and technology spaces to sharpen team skills in pitching, collaborative working, and comms and media planning.
